It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas Town Sonora!

The Sonora Chamber of Commerce kicks off the season with the lighting of Courthouse Park and the Red Church beginning Friday, November 26, 2021 and lasting through the New Year.  Elves will turn on the lights every evening at 5pm and turn them off at 6am each morning.

Next, the elves will be working over the weekend so Courthouse Park will be the place to mail your letters to Santa starting the morning of Sunday, November 28.  Look for the North Pole Mailbox for a quick and easy way to get those wish lists to Santa.  Letters will be picked up daily and sent by reindeer express to the mailroom at Santa’s workshop.  Father Christmas will be on the air at KAAD-LP Radio 103.5 FM and online at kaad-lp.org to read letters throughout the holidays.

On December 1st and 2nd, 30 local non-profits will help to plant Christmas Tree Lane in Courthouse Park.  Each non-profit will decorate their own tree to best represent their organization.  The Christmas Town Sonora Committee will choose the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and the public will be able to vote for the Voter’s Choice.  Look for QR codes and a link to cast your vote on signs near the trees. Online voting begins December 2nd and will end on December 17th.  Winners will be announced on December 18th.

The Sonora Chamber of Commerce Holiday Window Display kicks off December 2nd as well.  Storefronts will be decorated for the holidays along Washington Street.  There will be three winners: Mayor Matt Hawkins and his family will choose their favorite for the Mayor’s Choice Award; Sonora High School Leadership Program will be choosing their choice; Visitors and locals will again be able to choose their favorite with an online vote for the Voter’s Choice.  Look for QR codes on the windows of storefronts along Washington Street starting December 2nd though the 17th.  Winners will be announced on December 18th.

Kicking off on Saturday, December 4th Christmas Town Sonora will be in full swing each Saturday up until Christmas.
